Tamkang University Volunteers Services at Tien Yuan Temple For Sakura Season

The blossoming Sakura (Cherry Blossom) of Tamsui Tien Yuan Temple has become a main attraction for the month of March. The beautiful scenery at the temple has created a marvelous and romantic atmosphere. This wonderful sight always attracts large crowds of spectators, but with all crowds unfortunately comes more litter. There can never be too many volunteers to help out with cleaning during Sakura season. The Tien Yuan Temple office of affairs was thrilled to have the volunteer services of Tamkang University. The volunteers play an essential part of letting the spectators gaze on a continually fresh and clean environment, enhancing the enjoyment of the guests. Due to the efforts of the Tien Yuan Temple workers and volunteers, this site remains one of the most visited places in Taiwan during the Spring season.
Member of the Student Organization Guidance and Study Service Team, Ting Yu Lee, expressed, “In order for the students to really understand the meaning behind the volunteer work we are doing at the temple, we first began training for it a week in advance. We all sacrificed our sleeping time to wake up early in the morning to work together. Then we spent all day working and maintaining the area. But seeing the result of all of our efforts really makes it all worth it.” A student from the Department of Transportation Management, Xin Yue Luo, stated, “By doing volunteer work we also can enjoy the beautiful scenery all day. I am very grateful that the Tien Yuan Temple for giving us this wonderful opportunity. In my personal opinion, there is no better way to enjoy a day of work than being in the fresh air with a brilliantly colored atmosphere. I’m also thankful to the New Taipei City government for letting us be a part of this project.”
Assistant Professor of the Department of Political Economics, Chin-mo Zheng, stated, “It’s such a pleasure for me to come here on the weekend during the nice weather with my daughter. It’s a beautiful way to enjoy the day after you’ve had lunch. I’m very appreciative to everyone involved that helped to create this magnificent experience.”
