Mother of the Yellow River Comes to TKU

Renowned Chinese Sculptor, Master E He, has donated a statue titled, “Mother of the Yellow River,” to Taiwan in order to improve relations of the Cross-Straits. The 3.5 meter statue was located at Tamsui Campus’ Meadow and a ceremony to celebrate the special occasion took place on June 9th.
President Chang gave special thanks to Master E He in her opening address as she pointed out the significance of the statue. She stated that the Mother of the Yellow River symbolizes the beauty of restraint, representing the 8 key fundamentals of Tamkang University’s educational plan. She also mentioned that the statute created a touching picture of the relationship between a mother and her daughter.
Master E He is currently 78 years old and has created an invaluable collection of artistic sculptures through her vast experience, preserving Chinese culture and heritage. This special work of art will become an important part of both the scenery and history of Tamsui Campus.
