Renowned Scholar Xueliang Sun Delivers Third Lecture in the Tamkang Clement and Carrie Chair Lecture Series

Tamkang University invited Dr. Xueliang (Andy) Sun to deliver the third lecture in the Tamkang Clement and Carrie Chair Lecture Series. Dr. Sun is simultaneously a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Academy of Science, and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He serves as a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Western University (Canada), and is one of Canada's foremost scientists and a renowned international expert in the area of nanomaterials and energy.
The lecture was held on the afternoon of Dec 7, 2018, at the Lotus Room of the Shou-Chien International Conference Hall, Tamsui Campus, and centered on the following topic: the Development of Advanced Nanotechnology for Energy Storage and Conversion. The lecture event commenced with an opening address by the Dean of the TKU College of Science, Dr. Chou Zi-Cong. This was followed by an introduction of the renowned speaker by the Chair of the Department of Physics, Dr. Hsueh Hung-Chung. Next was the lecture itself, delivered by Dr. Sun. Explaining complex concepts in a simple and easy to understand manner, Dr. Sun described the applications of new and innovative nanomanufacturing and measuring technologies on advanced energy-related materials, emphasizing the significance of the topic of energy.
Due to the vivid and interesting nature of the lecture, the event drew over 200 faculty and students, including many bachelor students. Not only did they gain a broadened understanding of the field of nanotechnology, they enthusiastically raised questions at the end of lecture. Liang Yu-hui, a PhD candidate who attended the lecture, said that she had learned a great deal from the talk, especially regarding the current development of battery technology. The teachers who attended the event also expressed their approval, saying that the talk had inspired them. "The content presented in the lecture represents a real breakthrough in nanotechnology research." they exclaimed.
