Alumni Spring Banquet Homecoming Celebration Takes Place at Alma Mater

On campus voices seem to have gotten warmer, the flowers have gotten brighter and spirits are filled with joy as Tamkang University begins it’s three-day Alumni Spring Banquet Homecoming celebration. For three days, starting from March 15th, the Alumni Homecoming Spring Banquet will take place and alumni will have a reunion at both the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium and Lanyang Campus Strong Academics Building. On Tamsui Campus the event began at 9 o’clock in the morning and the first appearance was made by President Flora Chia-I Chang, who introduced the starting of the carnival games that involved, ping pong, dice, badminton, basketball, ma-jiang and more. The festivities were filled with laughter and excitement as the friendly competition took place.

Afterwards in the Student Activity Center, certificates of appreciation were presented to alumni that donated from 30 to 50 thousand NT. Also presented was “Tamkang University Alumni Association Award of Excellence” and “The Worldwide Federation Alumni Association Outstanding Alumni Award”. President Chang hosted the banquet, as a member of every department was nominated to receive a certificate for outstanding performance including the department of Mass Communication, Civil Engineering, Chemical and Engineering, Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Engineering, Business Administration, Insurance, Spanish, French, Japanese, and 46 other departments. Of the 46 nominated departments, 21 Alumni were selected and presented with the Worldwide Federation Alumni Association Outstanding Alumni Award.” (Details can be found on link http://www.fl.tku.edu.tw/news-summary.asp)

General Secretary of the Tamkang Alumni Association, Ching-ling You, expressed that she loved watching the days festivities. She stated, “It’s always an exciting time to return to my alma mater and enjoy the environment and wonderful changes. I like to stroll through the old bookstores and campus sites that bring me back to the days of being a student. It’s especially exciting to observe and participate in the competitions. It gives the alumni an opportunity to have a fun and meaningful exchange.” Executive Director of the TKU Office of Alumni Resources, Dr. Chun-Young Perng, stated, “ In the first week of March every year the Homecoming takes place at the alma mater. I’m grateful to all of the alumni that have traveled out here today for this celebration. It was a blessing that we can all learn from each other, sharing ideas and experiences.”
