Spring is in the Air at TKU

It’s nearing the month of April and the smell of spring has filled the air in Taiwan. Students and teachers at Tamkang University know the three concepts and learning objectives at this school to include an international-oriented, future-oriented and information-oriented educational system. Some other members of Tamkang University would say that there is a fourth educational concept regarding the environment and scenery of the university. The founder of Tamkang University, Mr. Chang Ching-sheng, spent time in Illinois and felt that the scenery and plantlife at the many different parks that surrounded the area created a refreshing and invigorating feeling. It was this experience that lead to the development of a campus that has garden like qualities.

Sixty years later the campus has an abundance of different sights on campus: palace lantern classrooms, Chinese style architecture, Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, Japanese and European designs, Chinese style flower gardens and much more. The continual development of a more scenic campus is not related to any financial gain, but to the beauty of the university. A more colorful environment enhances the daily experience of all the teachers and learners, allowing them to stay refreshed while refining their abilities. In recent times there are many universities that have attracted the attention of society for various competitive reasons, but TKU stands out among them all for its unique and harmonious atmosphere.
