The Chemistry Mobile Promotes Science in Yunlin County

A truck that is carrying scientific equipment and materials is making it’s way all around Taiwan to spread the joy of chemistry. This truck is known as the “Chemistry Mobile” and as soon as it arrives at a school, it transforms into a laboratory that captures minds with an intriguing scientific performance. The different experiments draw in students as it shows them the beauty of science and how it pertains to life. The project is sure to stir up the potential in youth and may create a colorful future painted by science. On May 13th the Chemistry Mobile shared the many pleasures of science with Hu Wei Middle school located in Yunlin County.

Tamkang University’s Department of Chemistry in cooperation with the industrial world has been able to use unprecedented methods to spread education. The Chemistry Mobile was designed to promote science and its benefits to all of the regions in Taiwan. Starting from 2014 Yunlin County has begun a cooperation with the Department of Chemistry with the goal of reaching every school in the region. They started from Hu Wei Middle School and traveled to Lin Nei, Yi Wu, Shui Lin, Bao Zhong, Fei Shao, Niao Song, Kou Hu, and Zhang Hu. The journey gave young students a close up look at what a career in science may entail. Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Bo-cheng Wang, stated, “Since the development of the Chemistry Mobile, we have really been seeking an opportunity to connect with Yunlin. It’s excellent that we have had this opportunity to work with the government of Yunlin County to spread the joys and mysteries of science.”
